DBF Ambassador and co-founder of Team Bader Cycling, Maggi (Maggz) Biggs, will be taking part in another gruelling Time Trial Event this Sunday. This one, being 50 miles, is even more gruelling than most…Maggz will again be representing Team Bader Amputees and will be the only amputee competing. This raising awareness of amputee cyclists is what Team Bader Amputees is all about and Maggz, turning in some awesome times, is certainly showing the competition that amputee competitors are a force to be reckoned with even when equipped with a wooden cycling post!
We’re sure you’ll join us in wishing this indomitable lady the best of luck and success on Sunday.
Go Team Bader Amputees!
And still using the un-aerodynamic wooden ‘4×2’ cycling post. No, don’t think they’ll catch on as the latest must have cycling attachment!
And in Maggz’s own words:
Just a note. This weekend’s a biggie for Biggsi! Well my first national event. The Womens National 50 mile Time Trial on a course near Press, Shropshire. Have been preparing over the past weeks with 2 @ 50 mile time trials. Last weekend was a windy horror around lumpy Joderell Bank, Cheshire. ‘Beam me up Scotty’ came to mind several times. Just so glad when the finish flag appeared. Knackered; and sticky with trying to down a few high energy gels. More seemed to arrive on the handlebars than it’s intended destination. Yes, considering the day I was well pleased with my ride 2hrs 32min 34secs for 4th place. Just missing 3rd place by 52secs. Beating one of my rivals by 5mins. But also pleased as I was the only amputee riding. And still using the un-aerodynamic wooden ‘4×2’ cycling post. No, don’t think they’ll catch on as the latest must have cycling attachment!
So Sunday morning 8.07am I’ll be off for another exciting challenge racing against time. In the field of 47 ladies am the only amputee. It being a time trial riders are set off at 1 minute intervals rather than all together as in a road race. Again, will be using the wooden post attachment. Hopefully the new carbon ‘aero’ version will be ready shortly. But nothing will stop me having a good time and still ‘living the dream’.Team Bader Amputees, Team Bader Cycling, Time Trial
