Bader Braves Go-Karting Day at Oasis

We were introduced two years ago to Oasis Go-kart Track by the Leather Sellers Guild, one of our supporters who has supported Oasis in London. Oasis run open go-karting sessions for children and young people aged 8 and over. Oasis welcomes disabled drivers. The site is accessible and has two-seater, dual-control cars and one kart fitted out with a hand control thanks to our friends at Kart Force.

With the day looking overcast our Bader Braves and their intrepid families gathered from all points especially the West of England. Luckily the weather stayed dark and gloomy with only a 5 minute burst of rain which apparently spiced up the driving experience.

As the families arrived the Oasis Team took over and booked our drivers in, gave them a briefing including all safety guide lines (accelerator/brake pedals/ flags ), a personal one on one on the kart they would be driving, and suddenly 3 karts at a time they were off.

Everyone had substantial track time and some of our Bader Braves were identified as being ‘’very quick’’ by the experienced Oasis Team.

A really fantastic and different challenge for our mainly lower limb BBs, who leapt at the opportunity to get out and race. Especially against their parents!!

Our thanks to Team Oasis for all their enthusiasm and support, Team Bader for being there and providing lunch and support, and our Bader Braves and their siblings and families for participating in the challenge and making the day such a success.
