BADER BRAVES Young Aviators Day White Waltham – From a Pilot’s Perspective

We are greatly indebted to the pilots, volunteers, helpers and all at the various Airfields that so kindly host our BADER BRAVES Young Aviators Days. Without their support and generosity these events simply wouldn’t be possible.

It was both gratifying and poignant, therefore, to hear from Stuart Scott, one of the pilots at the thoroughly enjoyable and successful Flying Day at White Waltham last weekend. Stuart is one of a syndicate of 12 who own Mike Whiskey (G-BEMW), a rather beautiful Piper PA-28-181 Archer for those of you who want the technical bits!

Stuart and 4 of his fellow owner/pilots, Pierre Wery, Ed Bowden, Paul Stanley & Mark Hillebrand, along with other pilot members of the West London Aero Club, took turns to fly several of our Bader Braves over the White Waltham area on Sunday and he has very kindly sent a selection of photographs he took during the day. We hope that some of his fascinating aerial shots will remind Braves who flew that day of some of the scenery and landmarks they saw from the air and hopefully bring back some happy memories of the day. We know that Stuart, a keen photographer, has already kindly sent photographs to the Braves that he and and fellow members of the syndicate took up in Mike Whiskey.

Stuart and his fellow pilots have supported the DBF Young Aviators Days at White Waltham for the last 3 years (although, sadly, both events there last year had to be cancelled due to bad weather and the Olympics) and says how thrilled they are to be involved. For all of us who are fortunate enough to attend these Events, the Braves’ enjoyment is infectious and brings back for Stuart, and probably other pilots as well, his own excitement at taking his first flight in a light aircraft.

On behalf of our Braves and their families and carers, a huge thank you, Stuart, Pierre, Ed, Paul, Mark and the rest of the Mike Whiskey Syndicate and all who, through your support, participation and enthusiasm make these Flying Days not only possible but the truly uplifting days they are for so many.

All at the Douglas Bader Foundation are deeply grateful.

We hope to see you all next year and, in the meantime, here is a gallery of Stuart’s photographs of a wonderful day:
