Blazing Bodmin makes for Brilliant Bader Braves Day
Following the disappointing weather of last weekend that forced the abandonment of our White Waltham event (now rearranged for Sunday 28th August), waking to a bright sunny morning in Bodmin was a huge relief.
31 Bader Braves assembled at the Cornwall Flying Club based at Bodmin Airfield for what was to be a most fantastic day. Event organiser, Pete White, had made sure that the club members were waiting for the Braves to arrive, pilots had been briefed and the ground support crew had everything in place to ensure that the day went without a hitch.
Ten aircraft were on provided to make sure everyone had a great flight taking them on a circuit out over Wadebridge turning in a southerly direction passing over the Eden Project and St Austell to the south coast before turning back inland to base. The warm sunshine enabled everyone to enjoy the picnic prepared by Michelle Culverhouse and her cheerful helpers and provided by the Foundation, sitting outside the clubhouse whilst they were treated to a wonderful display by one of the members.
A fire appliance and crew were on hand provided by Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service from the Bodmin Station and there was a lot of opportunity for the Braves to try the equipment (including a very loud siren!!) and climb over the vehicle; much enjoyed by everyone – thank you Bodmin Station crew!!
Flying continued throughout the afternoon, the weather held fair and as the Young Aviators Day drew to a close our new friends at the Cornwall Flying Club had completed over fifty flights and Bodmin Airfield had been the venue for more smiling faces than you can imagine. It was a wonderful day with everyone taking away some great memories; thank you CFC!!Tags: Bader Braves, Bodmin Airfield, Cornwall Flying Club, Eden Project, White Waltham, Young Aviators Day
