Our Adventure Weekends help youngsters affected by limb loss to gain confidence and make friends.
Attending one of our Adventure Weekends can have a profound effect on a young person affected by limb loss or other disability. As well as benefitting the child, families and carers also report the joy of spending time with other families in similar situations.
With the experienced and caring assistance of The Calvert Trust we run Adventure Weekends in Kielder Forest and Exmoor consisting of all kinds of exciting outdoor pursuits, including:
- Rock Climbing
- High Ropes
Inclement weather won’t be allowed to put a damper on the weekend either as there is a variety of alternative activities available.
Most children will gain confidence from taking part in exhilarating and challenging activities but our Braves, who are quite often missing one or more limbs or living with other disabilities, have so much more to gain. The satisfaction and sense of achievement they feel when they are participating successfully in the same activities as their able bodied peers and siblings in a safe and supportive environment is wonderful to see.
Weekends are open to children and families, and accommodation and food is supplied. There is a wonderful atmosphere as families share this very positive experience and watch their children make new friends and accomplish new challenges.
