The Dambusters Cycle Ride

Thanks to the commitment and determination of our wonderful Ambassador, Wyn Jenkins, the Damusters will ride again in 2018!

The ride will take place this year on Sunday 13th May, which is very auspicious as it will be the actual date of the 75th Anniversary of the famous World War 2 Dambuster Raids!

Now in its 3rd year, this thoroughly enjoyable event has become an absolute favourite on the DBF Calendar. Not only is it a wonderful event but the organisers go to great lengths to make sure the ride is absolutely inclusive. The whole day is “themed” and the emphasis is on  fun and enjoyment. With 2 routes, the ride is suitable for riders of all abilities and levels of experience, and cyclists with disabilities are welcomed and can take part riding either standard road bikes or bikes with adaptations.  There will be support along the entire route to ensure that everyone is looked after. It’s one of the few rides that can be genuinely called “Disability Friendly”.

The 2 routes are:

  • “Target Mission” (55 miles) – an opportunity for serious and competitive riders to show what they’re made of as it incorporates a 4 mile steady climb up to the Llyn Brianne Dam
  • “Fighter Escort” (35 miles) – a shorter and gentler route that is “as flat as any ride in this area can possibly be“!

Both rides start and finish on the edge of Llandeilo and take in some of the stunning scenery around the Towy Valley and the half way point at the Llyn Brianne Reservoir where a surprise will await you! On your arrival back at Llandeilo you will be rewarded with a hot meal ad a chance to wind down and relax.

You can get more details and enter via the British Cycling Website

and check out the Dambusters Cycle Ride Facebook Page where you’ll also be able to see some great photographs and footage of last year’s event.

Proceeds will again be split between CMC Llandeilo Cycling Club and the Douglas Bader Foundation so come along and join Team Bader. We’ll even provide you with some bespoke cycling kit designed by DBF Ambassador Maggz Biggs if you do….!

Entries for the event are limited so please register now if you’d like to take part or contact us or leave a comment on the Facebook Page if you’d like more information first. If cycling isn’t your thing and you’d just like a good day out in some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK, then just come along to watch and cheer the riders on. You’ll see several DBF supporters and friends and we can pretty much guarantee you’ll have a great day out.

We want you to finish the day with a big smile on your face!  Wyn Jenkins
