We’ve just learned that Philip Bailey is going to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats to raise money for the Douglas Bader Foundation.
Philip is already a veteran of DBF Events having provided invaluable company and support on Tandem Challenge Wales, the event that launched Team Bader Cycling, the brainchild of 2 of our Ambassadors, Wyn Jenkins and Margaret Biggs.
Clearly not deterred by the experience, Philip now plans to cycle the 960 miles between Lands End and John O’Groats (I don’t know why but it always sounds uphill that way!) between 31st August and the 16th September. He will be averaging 64 miles a day and hopes to include a couple of well-earned rest days en route.
He is hoping to be accompanied for some, if not all of the way by some of his team members from CMC (County Merlin Cycles – check out their Facebook Page HERE) who provided staunch support, practical, financial and physical on the Tandem Challenge Wales ride. He would, I’m sure, also welcome any support you can give him en route.
There will be more about this soon once we have more details from Philip, who will be posting details of each leg (as in section of the journey!) on his JustGiving Page. It goes without saying that all donations will be very gratefully received and will be invaluable in helping the DBF to continue its work on behalf of amputees and other disabled.
All at the Douglas Bader Foundation are extremely grateful to Philip for this fantastic effort on the charity’s behalf and wish him the very best of luck for his ride and, as he says, a good following wind!Tags: County Merlin Cycles, Douglas Bader, John O'Groats, Lands End, Philip Bailey, Tandem Challenge Wales, Team Bader
