Sandra Sexton from PORT-ER has sent us the first Newsletter of 2015 from the charity. Their Mobility Matters campaign highlights the need for development in prosthetics and orthotics.
“PORT-ER is the charity where mobility matters. Our vision is to bring about better patient care for people with mobility challenges through national and international development. We are a small UK based charity and we raise funds to be able to award small grants depending on our resources in an annual grant round to groups or individuals who need funding for project activities that align with our aims.”
I believe more than ever that the status quo in the field of prosthetics and orthotics has to be challenged, both at home and abroad. In the UK we need to encourage services to be even more client centred and innovative. Globally, over 29.1 million people with a physical disability cannot access the prosthetics and orthotics devices that they need because there are not enough services.
