THE BADER CUP is now recognised to be Europe’s largest National Mixed Golf Tournament and, thanks to the hard work, dedication and support of those involved, annually raises a considerable amount of money for the Douglas Bader Foundation. The latest Regional Finals results are now in from Ely City Golf Club – Cambridgeshire, and Aldwickbury Park Golf Club played on the 24th August and the 25th August respectively.
Congratulations to Michelle Hawkins and Danny Adkins from Stock Brook Manor who won at Ely City Golf Club, Cambridgeshire, with 39 points (21 back nine) and Robin and Richard Chapman from Muswell Hill who won at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club (1st Tee) with 39 points. Special congratulations to the Chapmans who, not content simply to win, scored a hole-in-one on their way to victory. A great achievement. These 2 winning pairs will now go on to join Sandi and Chris Stott (Parkstone); Lynne and Keith Sutton (Forest Pines); Janet and David James (Ashford – Kent); Karen Ashcroft and John Jordan (Slinfold Park Golf and Country Club); Sue and Clive Richardson (Lewes); Pamela and Howard Chamberlain (Pleasington); Karen Over and Kevin Nicholson (The Park) and Barbara King and Jack Marris (Whetstone) in the Algarve to play for the prestigious BADER CUP in the Grand Final between November 7th – 11th.
Our thanks, as always, to the participating Golf Clubs for their support in staging the Regional Finals, to John Southwick for organising the Tournament and to our sponsors, The Tivoli Lagos Hotel, Monarch Airlinesand Morgado do Reguengo for making it possible.
We hope that all who played but didn’t win this time enjoyed the competitions and will be back to try again next year.
