A Christmas Concert at St Clement Danes in aid of the Douglas Bader Foundation and Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope

Thursday, 2nd December 2021, 19:00

We are delighted to invite you to attend a Christmas Concert at St Clement Danes Church in the Strand, in aid of the Douglas Bader Foundation and Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope. The concert will take place on Thursday 2nd December at 7 pm (doors open at 6 o’clock) and will end with a closing song at 8.35.

Both the Douglas Bader Foundation and Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope raise money for children with limb deficiency / limb difference; the Douglas Bader Foundation throughout the UK and Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope overseas in countries including Liberia, Sierra Leone and India, so this concert will raise funds to support children from many different backgrounds.

In the past three years the Douglas Bader Foundation has raised over £500,000 to fund the development of a ‘slip-on and go’ prosthetic for those missing their arm below the elbow, and / or hands or fingers. KOALAA are the company developing this life-changing product which has already been given to 300 children in the UK; Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope is delighted to be helping trial this product abroad

We think Sir Douglas, whose ashes are interred at St Clement Danes Church, would be very proud to know that the Big Band set up in his name will be playing 2 sets during the evening. Bader’s Big Band, the first Big Band consisting almost entirely of musicians with a disability, has gone from strength to strength since its inception and has now played in front of diverse audiences at various events to great acclaim. It’s the perfect opportunity to hear their stirring music in the beautiful and poignant setting of St Clement Danes. A fitting and apposite tribute to Sir Douglas.

As well as Bader’s Big Band, there will be presentations by Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope and by David Bickers, CEO of the Douglas Bader Foundation; performances by a Choral Ensemble; a chance to join in with some carol singing and the opportunity to tick a few names off your present list with Christmas gifts for sale.

Tickets are £15 for adults and £7.50 for children and can be bought via the link beneath the invitation. We anticipate high demand for tickets to this unique and uplifting event and recommend that you book your place promptly to avoid disappointment. As well as having a great evening, you will be helping 2 worthy charities to support children with limb deficiency / limb difference in countries across the globe.

Our Christmas Concert at St Clement Danes is the perfect opportunity to get into the Christmas Spirit!
