Your Chance to Experience the Benefits of Adaptive Cycling

Paul Hallinan, from adapt-e, has contacted us to let us know about an adaptive cycling event which he feels may be of interest.

The event has been organised in conjunction with the Cycling Yorkshire Expo in Harrogate and will take place on September 21-22.

A test track has been secured at the event with some of the state-of-the-art recumbent electric assist trikes.

Apparently this equipment is absolutely perfect for anyone with an adaptive need, particularly amputation, as the electric assist and electronic gearing opens up a whole new world of possibility in cycling which many amputees might have felt would have been closed to them.

The DBF has always supported cycling as you will know from our Team Bader Cycling adventures, which can be found via the link at the bottom of this post. The profound physical and psychological benefits that the sport offers are already well established and it’s good to know that these benefits are not just available to the able bodied; a little thinking outside the box means that the freedom and health benefits can be available to those with disabilities as well.

If you’d be interested in knowing more about adaptive cycling, please get in touch with Paul using the contact details below or why not visit Harrogate in September and give it a go? You may be very pleasantly surprised!

If you won’t be able to attend in September, apparently adapt-e also hold a number of smaller events throughout the year and we’ll keep you updated about other dates that may suit as an alternative.
