Limb Loss & Limb Difference Awareness Month

HealthySocialMedia Blog

A consortium of UK charities working to support children, young people and adults with limb loss or limb difference have joined forces to celebrate and promoteLimb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month UK (#LLLDAM) this April.

During the month, we will collectively raise awareness about living with limb loss and limb difference through our websites and social media platforms (#LLLDAM). We believe that by working together we can achieve more, reach more people with limb loss and limb difference across the UK, and do more to support our collective community members at home when they need us the most. Creating a central online hub will allow amputees and those with limb difference to access the right support for them and to learn more about the organisations which can help them.

Have a look at the Community Website (link below), where you can find out more about the various organisations who will be working together throughout April for #LLLDAM and who offer help and support to amputees and people with limb difference in a variety of ways. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on people with disabilities, resulting in increased isolation and loneliness. As we start the tentative emergence from lockdown, you’ll be able to find a variety of opportunities and a wealth of information and help available through the participating organisations.

The DBF will be posting forthcoming events and activities that you can get involved in and there will be general news and updates regularly throughout April so please keep checking in.

We’re proud and delighted to be working with Finding Your Feet; LimbPower; The Limbless Association (LA); REACH and Steel Bones, and support groups: The Amputation Foundation; BOLDkids; The IAMPOSSIBLE Foundation; Jo’s Odd Shoes; The LimbBo Foundation; MAAF (The Midlands Association for Amputees and Friends); Opus and PIP-UK. You’ll find links to them all on the website and we hope that you’ll enjoy discovering all they have to offer.
