Bader Briefing – September

It’s so exciting to be able to report that, after all the work and preparation, Bader Academy is now open! Covid-19 has obviously had repercussions as it has done with everything but a bit of lateral thinking has enabled the Academy to welcome students while the full new site is completed.

It seems as though the students are already settling in happily with the school even being described by one parent as “the light at the end of the tunnel”. What an accolade and so well deserved for the Academy whose ethos is all about positivity and providing a happy and nurturing environment for its students.

We are so proud on Sir Douglas’s behalf of the Bader association. We know he would have approved wholeheartedly.

Bader Academy – August Briefing

Here is the latest update from the Bader Academy where things are really hotting up with only 3 weeks to go until the doors open to the new students, albeit in temporary accommodation. The Bader Academy is already proving that it can cope with whatever challenges the repercussions of Covid-19 and the lockdown throw at it, which bodes well for the future!

This positive attitude is what has always stood out as being a big part of the Academy’s ethos, a bit like its eponymous inspiration!

We’re very excited and delighted for the Bader Academy at this huge time for them. A fantastic achievement after many years of hard work and planning and we wish them every success, and their pupils happiness and fulfilment there.

We’ll keep updating…

Bader Academy July Newsletter

Herewith the Bader Academy July Newsletter.

As you will see, work continues apace on the building internally and externally, the time is drawing nearer (virus permitting) for the Academy to open its doors to young people and the sense of excitement and anticipation is growing. We’re very proud or our association with such a positive thinking educational establishment, and we know that Sir Douglas would be delighted.

The future bodes well; Ofsted have already visited the school and reported very favourably, describing it as ‘inspirational’, a word frequently used to describe Douglas Bader himself. What better accolade is there?

Bader Academy – Soon to Open its Doors to Students

New academy for young people with special needs

We’re so proud on Sir Douglas Bader’s behalf to tell you that an Academy in his name is nearing completion and will soon open its doors to students. The Bader Academy, in Edenthorpe, Doncaster, will cater for young people with special educational needs.

The Academy, which will be opening in September 2020 has already got off to an interesting start with building work help up when the archaeological survey identified some Roman remains and some pre-historic pottery! How inspiring to have some on-site real life history.

The brand new Bader Academy website reads: “Bader Academy is an exciting new special school due to open in Edenthorpe in Doncaster. Our academy is being developed to meet the needs of children and young people, aged 5-19, who have an Education, Health and Care Plan with a primary diagnosis of Communication and Interaction Difficulties.

This is such an exciting project and one that will undoubtedly make a difference to the lives of its pupils and we know that Douglas would be wholehearted in his approval. The aim of the Academy is “to provide an environment where children have fun with their learning“, a phrase which encapsulates Douglas’s positivity and can-do attitude.

We will enthusiastically keep you up to date with developments!
