Scientific Research for the Limb Difference Community Update

The Scientific Research for the Limb Difference Community Team has some good news to share!
They are very happy to announce that a good number of people has now participated in their first online study and that they have now had their first winners of some Amazon vouchers, which were awarded after the first prize draw to show the team’s gratitude to people who participated in their studies.
They now only need a few more participants to complete one of their online studies. With sufficient participants they can start analysis to obtain and share the first results from their research with people with limb difference.
They are also happy to announce that they have implemented another study which is now available online to participants. This new study will help them to assess additional general cognitive skills in people with and without limb difference and help them to understand the role of body experiences in developing mental images of themselves and other people.

Scientific research meets limb difference with Scientific Research for the Limb Difference Community. This is a very exciting concept offering the opportunity for the scientific community to work with the limb difference community in a whole variety of ways that can benefit both.

This site was established by a research group located in the Department of Psychology and School of Computer Science & Electronic Engineering at University of Essex (UK) working in the fields of psychology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence & robotics with the great passion of learning about humans and their abilities.

We are a dedicated research group based at the University of Essex who wants to create a dialogue between the limb difference and scientific communities. Our scientific research revolves around understanding the role of bodily experiences (e.g. touch perception, movement) and their loss in developing mental images of our own self and of other people. Through novel research studies, we hope to better understand the experience of living with limb difference, leading the way for further cutting-edge research in multi-disciplinary scientific research fields. In addition, we also look forward to knowing what questions people with limb difference may have that could direct scientific research in the future.
