CMC Llandeilo Cycling Club, in association with The Douglas Bader Foundation are promoting the Dambuster Cycle Ride to commemorate the famous raids on the dams in Germany that took place on the 16 & 17 May 1943 and which accelerated the end of WW2.
There’s now less than 2 weeks to go until this epic ride! Entries close on the 10th May so there’s still time to sign up if you’d like to take part in this wonderful fund-raising (with the emphasis on fun!) event. You will find a link enabling you to enter Online below.
This unique event will take place on Sunday 15th May and will be a ride up the beautiful Towy Valley and on to the Llyn Brianne Reservoir above Llandovery, a distance of some 55 miles for the full “Target Mission” ride. This route includes a “challenging” climb up to the Reservoir.
Don’t panic if you’re not (yet!) a long-distance cyclist or don’t like the idea of “challenging” hills, you won’t be alone; the event welcomes all and there will be the option to slope off and take the shorter “Fighter Escort” route of 35 miles, which also has the benefit of being on terrain as flat as this part of the world can offer!
The choice of routes makes the event ideal for cyclists of all abilities including those with disabilities riding standard road bikes or with adaptations.
CMC and the DBF would love to see families taking part and enjoying this event together. There’s plenty of entertainment at the start/finish and en-route to make this a memorable day for all concerned.
The whole day, which starts and finishes at Coleg Sir Gar just outside Llandeilo, is “themed” and this includes the music and dress of the day at the Start/Finish and at all three feed stations en-route. We want you to finish the day with a big smile on your face and to mark the event as something to look forward to each year. As well as the three feed stations, all riders will enjoy a hot meal at the finish and will take home a memento to remember the day.

The Douglas Bader Foundation is extremely grateful to all at CMC for all their hard work in staging this unique event and particularly to Wyn Jenkins, DBF Ambassador and committed CMC member, who has been the driving force behind it and has put in a huge amount of effort.
Please reward those efforts by coming along and taking part in this great ride for a very worthy cause.
While we can’t, of course, guarantee the Welsh weather, we can pretty much guarantee that you’ll have a day to remember!
