While engaging in sport or music will undoubtedly benefit the individual, we’re also hoping that when people join Team Bader it will help to raise awareness of and possibly funds for the Douglas Bader Foundation.
We’ve already had supporters competing individually in Marathons and Half-Marathons on behalf of the DBF. Now we have Team Bader (Cycling), initiated by 2 of our Ambassadors, Margaret Biggs and Wyn Jenkins, both amputee cyclists, so that people can benefit from all the support both physical and psychological as well as the practical help that being part of a team offers.
Supporters joining Team Bader (Cycling) will be equipped with bespoke, eye-catching kit for the event they are participating in and will receive a souvenir of their participation on completion as well as the self-confidence gained from having taken part, and some good friends to boot. It’s a win-win situation!
Last year we added Team Bader (Music) following the successful launch of ‘Bader’s Big Band‘. This ambitious initiative is building the first Big Band comprised entirely of musicians and vocalists with disabilities and is already going from strength to strength.
For more information or if you’d like to join Team Bader (Cycling) or Team Bader (Music) or initiate another event or challenge for Team Bader please contact email@example.com
Please note that funds raised from these Events will go towards helping the DBF to continue its valuable work on behalf of amputees and people with other disabilities so if you join as a fund-raiser you’ll be contributing to a very worthwhile cause as well.
