Take a Look at the Amazing Mountain Trike!

We were very pleased to hear from Roger Crawford of Mountain Trike Company that the company is going from strength to strength with new models recently introduced. Read on to hear more from Roger:

We are of course, still producing our ever popular lever propelled Mountain Trike which is the mainstay of the Mountain Trike range and which, we are delighted to advise, has recently been chosen by ex World Champion Downhill Mountain Biker, Martyn Ashton (seen above), as his outdoor wheelchair of choice. (You can see a video of Martyn in action on a Mountain Trike by following the link below.)

We are also now producing an All Terrain Attendant/Buddy wheelchair which is called the MT Push and which is proving to be a very popular choice with both families and institutions alike.

It is derived from the original lever drive Mountain Trike and was designed for and at the behest of the National Trust who asked us to design a Manually Propelled, All Terrain, Attendant/Buddy wheelchair to compliment their existing PMV, electric ‘Tramper’ fleets.
The Trust realised that many of their wheelchair using visitors, including those under 14 years of age, those living with cerebral palsy, dementia, tourettes syndrome, chronic arthritis, brain injury and the frail and very elderly, were all unable to use their PMV’s and their existing normal wheelchair fleets were ‘unfit for purpose’ over muddy and unfriendly terrain.
As a consequence many of their wheelchair bound visitors were unable to access many of their gardens and parkland’s..
The MT Push allows the user and their carer, comfortable access to problematic and unfriendly terrain such as woodland walks, cobbled streets, canal side paths, gravelled pathways, countryside trails and even compacted wet sandy beaches, mud and snow and it is now in service with:-
  • The National Trust;
  • English Heritage;
  • Chatsworth House;
  • Shorne Country Park, Kent;
  • Bowen Island Vancouver, Canada;
  • Disability Shetland;
  • Hindleap Warren Outdoor Activity Centre and
  • Grammar Primary School Ayr, amongst others and has been chosen by numerous families here in the UK and around the world.
 The other new model we have developed is called the MT EVO and this is very similar to the original lever propelled MT but it has a ’tilt lever’ braking system to assist those users with limited finger and hand function (tetraplegics)
